Where Is the Power
My darling Kochana Eve,
If you read through the New Testament of the Bible (written Word of God) the Acts of the appostles were just like those of Jesus Christ the crucified and resurrected Lord and Savior of man. Just as Jesus preached the message of the gospel (good news) of God, healed the sick, cast out demons and raised the dead, the works of his followers manifested the identical results. Peter said to the man crippled from birth begging for alms, “silver and gold have I none, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” And taking him by the hand, he helped him up and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. Jesus gave his disciples authority to do all the works which he himself did during his earthly ministry. Christ even said regarding the works which which he did of the Father, “you shall do even greater works than these.” This was the real Jesus speaking during his earthly reign foretelling the great works which they would perform in the name of Jesus Christ. As Jesus the Son of God spoke, cast out demons, healed the sick and raised the dead, so did his disciples act with authority over satan and the hordes of hell (demons).
What happenned to the power of the Word of God? Shortly after the first century, the miracles, signs and wonders which accompanied the teachings of Christ began to dissipate. The appostles John and Paul warned about the coming of anti-christ. They prophesied the coming of false teachers into the midst of the believers (remember when the enemy sewed tares (the wicked) among the wheat (the righteous). These false teachers were emissarries of satan and the battle plan was to infiltrate the righteous assemblies and lead astray as many as would be deceived. This is a mystery, one is only deceived when he is willing to accept and obey any principle, doctrine or moral conduct which is not rooted in God. Deception is a willful choice. One can only be deceived by choosing an altenative not offered (allowed) by the law of God. The church chose to grow greater in numbers by compromising the teachings of Christ, forgetting that it is sin to ‘add to’ or ‘take away’ from the inspired Word of God. When the infiltrators were allowed into the church, they brought more counterfeit christians into the church. The result was the absence of the spirit of Christ in the worship and the power, miracles, and evangelism of the early church faded into oblivion.
Gods’ people yearn for the power of the first century church. Christ has promised a second coming in power. Enoch said, ” behold he comes in ten thousand saints to shine.” He shall come again in a great cloud of witnesses. We see many large churches where 1000 to 3000 attend services. There is good music performed to professional standards but no power to heal the broken spirit. The messages are milk for babies without the meat required for nourishment of a growing christian. What we behold in the churches today is ‘christianity light’, a far cry from the vibrant, life giving teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ. Many in the pews of those massive churches are counterfeit christians who will wilt quickly in the hot sun of temptation for the cares of this world will choke out their love of God. Jesus never diluted, altered or exagerated the message of his Heavenly Father. If you follow Him, it will be on Gods’ terms for those are the terms required for eternal life. To change one of the maxims of God is like maintaining a diet which brings perfect health and drinking poison hemlock. You can’t mix life with death. It is either life or death. As Moses said to the children of Israel, “this day I set before you life and death. Choose life and live.” That is the choice for us today. Will we be a christian or a counterfeit christian? Kochana, let us choose life and live.
I love you, May our God bless and keep us in his truth, Kochany
