Two Kayaks on the Lake

Eve, my Kochana,

Remember when you came home that bright Saturday morning and asked me to come to Sams Warehouse Superstore to look at a kayak? My initial reaction was my usual ‘how much money will it cost’ and ‘would you really use it if we bought it?’ Reluctantly I piled into the SUV because it was the only vehicle we had which could transport it home in the event that I couldn’t dissuade you from buying a crazy kayak we would never use. My inspection of the object of your seeming obsession revealed that it was indeed a great buy and a quality kayak for anyone who would use it regularly. To my great disdain, you insisted that you would use it regularly and you even suggested that I would enjoy the kayak when you were swimming. In more than a little aggravation, I loaded it in the SUV and drove back home, convinced that this was a misuse of our valuable funds.
Well it turned out that you were right again and I, in this case, over reacted to your well thought out decision. That very day when you eagerly jumped into the kayak and vigorously paddled out into the lake, your exhuberance and zest for life and living it to its’ fullest melted my heart as I thought to myself, ‘yes that is my Eve, always capturing the maximum gusto in the moment.’ You even succeeded in making a kayak zealot of me. It was an event each day when you would swim and I would follow in the kayak as you blessed the fish in the lake by swimming in their midst. Surely all nature sang with the angels when our mother, the first Eve, was formed of the earth out of one of the ribs of Adam and she began her journey through a world which was made complete when she emerged on the scene. Adam must have been just as happy as I, when I have fun with you kochana and I give thanks to our Lord each day for our life together. I have occasionally wondered why you love me, but praise God because I know that you do and that’s all that matters to me. Case closed.
And then one day you left in the SUV without me and made a purchase. When you pulled into the driveway, I looked out of the window and merely smiled. Was I surprised? Not on your life. Without a word of complaint I unloaded it. Suffice it to say to my great pleasure and complete satisfaction, there are now two kayaks on the lake.

Gods’ grace and peace upon the woman who never ceases to surprise me and make me happy, Kochany
