Once upon a time there was a man who yearned for something important which was absent from his life. He had success, friends and family but the completion of self which comes only with the union of a man and a woman was missing. There were many beautiful women, many witty, many highly intelligent and many looking for that same missing part which he lacked.
Then one unsuspecting day the soft breeze of change brought her into the same room and heart reached out and touched heart when their eyes met. Neither of them understood what was happening. The uncertainty of the future could not stamp out the excitement, thrill and apprehension each experienced in the company of one another. That very instant love conceived and developed in the womb of their friendship and devotion, birthing in a living relationship which would sustain them until death parted them. This could describe almost anyone but it especially is representative of our love and vows. Like a bedtime story our happy scroll of life begins, “once upon a time there was Kochany and Kochana Eva. Then come the many joyful events, emotions, plans, dreams, and disappointments. We know that we shall prevail together and it is reassuring that tomorrow morning we will begin our real life fairy tale of love with, “once upon a time there were two lovers who grew more and more in love each day.” Kochana our love is better than any fairy tale of childhood. It is the kind of love which inspires fairy tales. Before I met you, I thought that a love like ours only existed in idealistic childrens’ stories. Now we know that the best that life can give is found in being together. So I never tire of our ‘once upon a time’ story. Let’s write another bedtime story today with our life together.
