Weekend Breakfasts

My dear Eve,

Saturday and Sunday mornings are always special at our house. While we’re still in bed, I always ask Eve if she wants coffee. I know that she’ll say ‘yes’ but I ask just the same. I fix our morning eye opener and bring it upstairs to her. She usually drinks only half before rolling out of bed to freshen up and come down stairs to begin the morning meal. She likes to prepare European breakfasts. I get my guitar and sing to her, “nothing’s quite as pretty as Eve in the morning’ (the song actually says ‘Mary in the morning’). Usually I can coax a hug and a kiss on my cheek. (Great wages for just a song, I’d say). Then I sing ‘The Wonder of You’. I usually sing ‘It Had to Be You’ before she asks me to set the table and pour the juice. By now she has the breakfast on the table and as we sit down she gets a complimentary kiss on the cheek. Though her meals are always tasty and nourishing, the companionship yields results that packs power and invigorates the rest our morning conversation. After breakfast, I clear the table and wash the dishes. She dries the dishes for me (drying time is nice time). Then she makes a delightful cup of tea with a nice aroma, lemon and flavored syrup, which we sip outside on the patio. We watch the swans, ducks and geese on the lake, the squirrels in the trees and the fishermen. This interaction establishes the tone for the rest of the day, setting the stage for all kinds of intrigue filled possibillities, and we revel in the happiness and joy of our lifetime walk together. God blessed me with her and I give thanks for our weekend breakfasts.

Can’t wait for Saturday and Sunday with you, Kochany
