Door County Calling
Dearest Eve, my travel companion,
Fall, in Door County, Wisconsin, is a great scenic escape to vacationers. We spent 3 days in the picturesque peninsula that stretches out into Lake Michigan in northern Wisconsin. We enjoy short trips to out of the way areas with little traffic and great scenery for walks, interspersed with stops at a local restaurant for a light lunch, coffee or tea. We love to chat and snap pictures of rock formations, landmarks and local businesses. In the early fall, the foliage and leaves of the hardwood trees display magnificent hues of red, orange and browns guaranteed to please the eye. There are several historic lighthouses with waves rushing against the shore that make excellent digital scrap book pictures. Walking and pollution free fresh air make for a relaxing adventure in an environment virtually untarnished by man. The residents of this area respect the environment and don’t want their lifestyle and neighborhoods to change. We found a unique eatery in Sister Bay, Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant, with excellent fare and goats eating grass on the roof. Kochana likes the gift shops in quaint little buildings. We both liked the apples and fresh nuts of fall season. It’s been a few years since we imbibed on this intoxicating sensation. Let’s review our pictures from the last visit to door County and discuss a return to see more of the same and more of the rest that we didn’t see on our previous visit. After all, remembering past trips can be almost as enjoyable as experiencing them the first time. I hear Door County calling us to the bliss of rest and relaxation. I love you more today than I did then.
Traveling is as good as arriving at our destination, Kochany
