A Place for the Pigeons
Kochana Eve,
Do you remember when we went to the old Jewish community and walked among the outdoor vegetable and fruit stands and saw some pictures taken during the 1940’s and the occupation of the German army in Krakow. Even during the war/occupation the Polish citizens, gentiles and jews, enjoyed life and attended to the issues of life. Maybe the sadness of the pictures opened my understanding to the adaptibility of man in the crucible of trial and testing. How like pigeons we are. All across the world pigeons find a way to survive. During these times God used the firey struggle to forge and prepare the Polish people and Karol Wojtyla, a young man, who would one day be Pope John Paul II. Like the pigeons of Krakow, he not only survived torture, suffering, disappointment and hunger, but he conquered every test and trial man set before him through his faith in God Most High. He took God with him where ever and whenever he went whether he was forced by the Nazi gestapo or gently lead by the Holy Father of Lights who shone the light of His love and perfect peace on his own as they complained, prayed, suffered, and died. God was making saints. Many were sainted by steadfast determination to stand, to the point of giving their lives, on the rock solid principles of the only God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, eternal. For them to live was Christ and to die was to be with Him and that was gain. Many lost all they had, family and material posessions, but they learned that no-one could separate them from God. The pigeons must know this for the world over, they can be seen peacefully co-existing with God and man, showing us that come what may, there will be another day for God will bring it and He wants to bring us along if we, like John Paul II, will trust him through uncertainty, fear, and catastrophe. Pigeons are peaceful for they are of the dove family. The doves of men, like Pope John Paul II, turn the other cheek to those who smite their pride and seek to shame Gods people. When we put God and His order before ourselves, we gain an additional measure of understanding, knowledge, wisdom and Life. There is always a place for pigeons. There is always a place for Gods’ people. God is pleased when we look to him in faith knowing that He will keep and protect us in His love and might.
May we sit on the presence of God and call Him Father, Kochany
