About Randy
Randy Suits is a lifetime singer, songwriter, poet and author. As a young boy, he tried to convey feeling through expressive dialogue, singing and narrative. He wrote his first song at the age of seven. As a teen and young man he wrote many songs, sang in several bands and the church choir.
At 27, I began working as a volunteer at a Nursing Home for physically and mentally challenged children. One day, 6 months old Athena arrived. She was born with the umbilical chord wrapped around her neck resulting in partial paralysis of her left arm and leg. She was also unable to swallow. She was on a feeding tube but it was time for her to begin eating solid food. At feeding time, she choked, gagged, cried, sweated, kicked and squirmed, resisting eating. She had become accustomed to the feeding tube. I volunteered to feed Athena. She and I had more food on us than she swallowed. I began to pick her up and walk with her and sing to her a few minutes before feeding time to relax her. After her meal, I carried her and consoled her as I sang to her. She loved it when I sang to her. One day as we walked I told her, “Athena, I love you. Every day’s a holiday with you.” Then a tune and lyric came to me: ‘Every day with you is a holiday. Honey it’s true. Anything we do it’s a holiday darling with you.’ She loved it. So I continued singing those lines. Later that evening I sat down and finished the song. It became our daily ritual and was the beginning of my dream to raise funds for children. I wrote a musical with 15 songs. Then I realized that I could write a book from the story. Thus ‘Every Day’s a Holiday” was born. Now that I have more free time, I am pursuing my desires to write with my blog, books, songs and music that I write. It’s time to pursue my dream and postponed aspirations. My mantra is ‘Every Day’s a Holiday’.
