Building the Bridge Ahead

My sweet Eve,

Progress seldom comes as quickly as we would prefer. Nor is it seen clearly as we want. This is especially so regarding the plans and purposes of the Most High God. Joseph was shown that God would lift him up to a position of prominence and importance in the grand design of God and his program to grow the 76 members of the family of Jacob into a mighty nation. Joseph and his brothers incorrectly interpreted the dream to mean that Joseph would reign supreme over the family. Though God would elevate Joseph to a position of prominence and leadership, he understood when Pharaoh declared him second in command of Egypt, God’s purpose and plan. Understanding enabled him to overcome his hatred and anger for his brothers who sold him into slavery. God can never use us effectively if we prove incapable of forgiving, for hatred short circuits the flow of love between man and God, thus impeding and stopping the resultant flow of love that permeates the mind of God. We are to be godly with the understanding that, though in Jesus Christ we are like Him, we are never to Lord over God’s creatures. When Joseph was falsely accused and suffered in prison, God was silently and secretly building a bridge from the present to the future. God is also building a bridge to our future and purpose as we seemingly fail to progress. God is our margin of victory. In Him we can never fall short of His perfect design. His bridgework moves us steadily toward our purpose in his plan to restore man to God’s intended station in the universe. Always remember that I love you above all others (on earth) and that our Savior loves us as He continues building the bridge ahead, that we may redeem his promises to us.
