Cycling on Hilton Head Beaches

Eva, the adventurous darling,

Vacationing at Hilton Head Island in off season gave us a break from the crowds and a realization of just how wide those pristine white sand beaches are at high and low tides. An added benefit was the many street bike lanes and bike paths to all areas of interest on the island. The three full days we spent on this South Carolina island resort were 100 per cent pure relaxation. We arrived after 4:00 PM on Friday at the Road Fish Bike Shop. The proprietor thoughtfully gave us the entire second day and a lock for each bike. All hotels on the island have complimentary bike racks for guests. We rode down Queens Folly Road past the Disney Hotel to the entrance to the beach. We learned from other bikers that it was best to ride into the wind and return with the wind at your back. Kochana chose to follow me and it was necessary to stop or circle on the beach to let her catch up. We neither raced or poked along. The brisk salt air and mists of the tide were good for our sinus. Couples walked hand in hand, husband and wife with children strolled the beach, dogs ran and played fetch with owners and other cyclists passed us on the beach. Though we will always remember our brief escape cycling on Hilton Head beaches, it could have been anywhere with Ewa and it would have been just as good. It is true that anywhere with the Most High God and His Holy Son, Jesus Christ, would be heaven because they are there with us. It is also true that being with my Ewa and our Lord is heaven on earth as well. Did not God say, “it is not good for the man to be alone”? Every morning I rise to see her sleeping beside me and every night we retire and cuddle together is everything we need to be happy. May we always praise and thank our God most high, for the bounty of love and blessing he bestows upon us.

A vacation is only a vacation with you, Kochany
