Double Jeopardy

In the book ‘Marzenie – Love Grows in the Crucible’ we get a look into the the double defeat of Poland at the hands of Germany and Russia, two nations controlled by atheistic socialist governments. Hitler and Stalin saw Poland as a bastion of freedom and democracy in Europe and as such the ultimate threat to tyranny in Germany, Italy and Russia. Antoni and Antonina were Godly Christians of the Catholic faith. Each day of their lives was guided by holy precepts, laws and worship. Christians and Jews were targeted because they were never deceived by the godless lies, dogma and propaganda of both the Nazis and the communists. Antoni and Antonina could not openly practice their faith during the Nazi occupation. But when the Russians occupied Poland and eastern Europe, those nations were shackled by communist totalitarianism which regarded the Catholic Church as an enemy of the Party. Stalin once asked, “How many divisions has the Pope?” Though the communist regime controlled all aspects of political and economic life, the broader cultural mission was to plant and grow an atheistic ideology severing the link between Polish Nationalism and Polish Catholicism. The persecution of Christians began anew. The Nazis killed and martyred godly Poles as enemies of the state. The Russians through their Polish puppets assaulted Christians in an even more stringent policy. It was indeed double jeopardy. Being tried (tested) twice for the same charge. The charge was a crime because ungodly atheists wrote laws against the eternal righteous and holy laws of the Most High God. Like first century Christians who knew the truth of God, the East Europeans of post World War II were oppressed and suppressed so that the lies of propaganda, misinformation and deception could spread to the children and non-believers unchecked by the truth of God. The years from 1945 until the Polish Solidarity movement of 1988 were years of perpetual double jeopardy. Antonina and Antoni were forced to live double lives. Only at home could they live, talk and worship in their personal beliefs.
