Food that Nourishes Our Spirit, Soul and Body
My Kochana Eve,
Where do we find an eternal definition of food that fulfills and embodies every meaning of life giving nourishment which sustains the body, restores the spirit and uplifts the soul? We are bombarded with false claims about miracle foods, body building additives and youth restoring diets, exercise routines, anti-aging capsules, additives and injections. All man made supplements, medications, additives, exercise routines and health plans fail to accomplish the three (simultaneous) essential results laid out by the Most High God in the 1st and 2nd chapters of Genesis, i.e. nourishment of spirit, soul and body. The definition of food for the body is ‘an edible or potable substance (of animal or plant origin), consisting of nourishing and nutritive components such as carbohydrates, fats, proteins, essential minerals and vitamins, which (when ingested and assimilated through digestion) sustains life, generates energy, and provides growth, maintenance and health of the body.’ We must look to the Word of God to find the absolute meaning of ‘food’ for the living (God breathed the breath of life into Adam and man became a LIVING SOUL). We must refer to Genesis 1: 29, “Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of the earth and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.” Again in Genesis 2:16 -18 God instructed Adam (before Eve was formed from a rib of Adam), “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat, but of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it: for in the day that you eat thereof you shall surely die”. And the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a help meet suitable for him.” God differentiated between trees for food and the tree of knowledge of good and evil; the fruit of which contained no nourishment (for spirit, soul and body). Eating of the trees of the garden (God called them trees) was a myriad of choices predicated on the decision to align the will of man with the will, plan and purpose of the Most High God. This decision and the related choices perpetuated Life. Eating of the tree of knowledge of good and evil was a decision to defy the God of Creation and the result was to think, act and live outside the eternal Word of All-mighty God. Adam and Eve should have deduced that the evil tree in the midst of the garden was not food because it lacked a seed. (We know this because God said that a tree for food would have a tree yielding seed (Life). Thus there could not have been a seed in the fruit of the tree of death.) In essence there is only Life or death (absence of Life). The decision to eat of the tree of death precluded any and all choices for Life. Life choices were not in the set of choices in the tree of knowledge of good and evil, only absence of life choices were available. Eve was deceived into believing that the tree was good for food, appealing to the eye and desirable to make one wise, but this was a false illusion rooted in absence of Life (death). The birth, Life and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ was the restoration of the original Garden of Eden that once again gives man an opportunity to decide his eternal place in the forever plan of God. We once again have an option to eat food that nourishes our spirit, soul and body.
Let us eat at the eternal table of the Love of God, Kochany
