Get Out of Your Country
Eve my Kochana, who always listens to my daily voyage through Gods Word,
When we set out together to make a new life we were like Abram and Sarai who lived in Ur of the Chaldees. It is written, ‘Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get Thee out of your country, and from your kindred, and from your father’s house unto a land that I will show you: And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless you, and curse them that curse you: and in you shall all the families of the earth be blessed’. (Gen 12: 1-3) Abram and Sarai were 75 and 65 respectively, so it is obvious that the promise of offspring required not only obedience but faith to believe that God can do anything, even open the womb of a woman who was past child bearing and a man whose body was incapable of reproduction. The promise was conditional. They had to leave their homeland (comfort zone), their family (give up a temporal earthly family for an eternal heavenly family – a God centered union which only a relationship with Creator God could engender), and their father’s house (become a son {male and female created He them} of the eternal God, leaving behind the pride of association with his earthly kin). This sacrifice was extreme. God asked Abram to follow him in a daily walk. Abram and Sarah knew not their physical destination. Sufficient in our life with God is obedience to his instruction for obedience is the foundation for communion with God, the source of Life. The plan of the Most High God for our life is at enmity with the plan of man (our plan apart from Him). Non-Christian family members never understand the choices of Christians who align their will and make choices in agreement with the Word of God. We must remember that they can come to where we are in Christ if they choose. It is written,’God is not pleased with the death of the wicked’. We cannot make their spiritual decisions. Each of us has the option of Life in Christ or death without him. We must leave our country (old fleshly ways), kindred (traditions and pride of life) and fathers house (earthly abode/body in league with Satan) and walk as one, in step with God a day at a time until we arrive at the destination which God has charted. We can’t find that place without Him. Our walk is a condition more than a place. That is how we can be in the world but not of it. In his Gethsemane Garden prayer, Jesus asked ‘not that they be taken from the world (earth) but that they be kept from the evil’. If we are in the heavenly condition, any place with God will be acceptable. Thus the destination is God, His son, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Let us give thanks that we can walk together like Abram and Sarai as we get out of our country and daily approach the land of rest and peace with the gracious God of Love.
Walking in faith toward that perfect day in Christ, Kochany
