God Chose His Wife

My Eve, the woman God chose for my wife,

When Mary was found to be with child (of the holy spirit) Joseph, her espoused husband, thought to quietly put her away. He could have made a spectacle of her to preserve his honor and made it known that he was not the father of the child, or he could have had her stoned as allowed by the law. While he was contemplating his decision, the Lord spoke to him and said, “Joseph, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife for the child in her womb is of the Holy Ghost.” God addressed his fear of taking a wife who truly was a virgin, but to the reason of men could only be pregnant by a man. His fears were of the culture and society in which they lived at the birth of Christ. Also he knew the shame which would be on his household resultant to the illegitimate (according to the appearance) birth. It would appear that Mary and he had engaged in premarital relations. God was the Father of Mary’s firstborn. The disappointment to Joseph that his espoused would bear any child other than his was subordinate to the divine will and purpose of the Most High God. Joseph was a righteous man who feared and loved God. For this purpose (unknown to Joseph) God had picked him to be the earthly father of His Holy Son. When Joseph obeyed God rather than exercise his own will (aligning his will with the will of God) he agreed with the Lord and God chose his wife. God chose not only Mary to bear his only begotten son but he also chose the earthly father of Jesus. Is God any less powerful in our day? Is He any less omnipotent or omniscient? Does He not still see the end from the beginning? Did He not bring you, my Kochana, to me and shall I not acquiesce and align my will with the Most High God? Let it be said of your Kochany that ‘God chose his wife.’ The only way to please our God is for us to fulfill His plan and wait for His good pleasure and perfect time. He has shown us his plan and let us glorify His holy name by executing that faith which will enable us with certainty to fulfill all He has planned for us from the foundation of the world. You are mine and I am yours. So be it. As it can be said of Joseph let it be said of me, “God chose his wife.” You are my wife and I love you.

Grateful that God gave you to me, Kochany
