Goodbye Dear Friend
My Kochana, even the animals love you,
You didn’t sleep well last night. We lost a dear friend unexpectedly and you couldn’t stop thinking about our loss and the sadness of the grand children who tragicly lost their pet. When we watched the dogs for our children, Renia was always waiting for you to walk through the door. Tail wagging, barking excitedly and running to meet her as she stepped inside, Renia stood on her hind legs barking approvingly, excitedly wagging her tail. Then she would follow you through the house or outside close beside her or not far behind. She was protective of you, sometimes growling at a stranger we didn’t know. Where you went she went. She loved you and preferred to be fed by you rather than me. When we sat on the couch Renia would jump up in your lap or lay near her. If you was not home, or outside watering flowers she would honor me with her presence, often laying her head across my leg as she slept. I was second to you. That’s the way it was. She was your very special friend. I was never jealous of Renia. We had an understanding. When she was with us I would gladly share you with her and Renia would let me share you, for in reality, she was always in charge. We now have a full understanding of how dog owners grieve when they lose their pet. It is like losing a friend, a family member. Our friends lost their dog Max to old age a few months ago and we miss him when we visit. God gave domestic pets for our pleasure. We are grateful for the long haired dachsund who brought immeasurable happiness and joy in our home and when we visited the children and grand children. Sleep well tonight my sweet. Be at peace and we’ll give thanks for the short span of time when our God loaned Renia to us.
The Lord gives, the Lord takes away and He knows best, Kochany
