He Recognized Him but He Never Knew Him
My Ewa, wife who knows me as no other,
At the Childrens’ Museum in Chicago, Illinois, a man was waiting for his grandson to to descend 3 floors on the giant rope monkey bars. He looked to his right and saw a familiar figure. Immediately he recognized him as one of his favorite Hollywood actors. Without thinking he stepped toward him and said spontaneously, “Hi! How are you?” The actor was immediately shocked at the abrupt approach and backed away from this stranger. Instantly the gentleman realized that, being a movie star, the startled actor was unsure of the actions and greetings from a man he was certain he did not know. “I’m sorry,” the gentleman said gently, ” I know that you want time with your son without interference from the public. I recognized you instantly and spoke as if I knew you because you are in my living room when we watch your movies on television.” The actor accepted the apology when he understood that the intrusion upon his privacy was an innocent outburst of amazement. He put his hand up to stop the advancing body guard who stood just 20 feet from them. About that time his grandson stepped off the rope monkey bars and he took him by the hand to leave. He turned to the actor and said, ” I really do enjoy your films.” The actor replied, “Thank you.” The moral of this true incident is that he recognized him but he never knew him. This is a life example of all those who don’t know the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. They recognize Jesus only because they know of Him but they have never taken the time or made the effort to really get acquainted and truly know Him. There was a time when this man (your kochany) who loves you so intensely, only recognized you and knew of you. You are and always have been beautiful. Your good work ethic and impeccable character were accepted by all your family, friends and associates. Our mutual interest in each other was obvious from the moment we met. So overwhelming was our meeting that your man was drawn to you like a powerful magnet pulls iron to it. We took the time and made the effort to build a friendship which became a courtship and then a marriage. Now that we are one we know each other in the most intimate ways. Old testament scriptures describe the wedding night by simply saying that ‘he knew his wife’. I like that. The most intimate and physical oneness is also a spiritual bond of one soul to the other (a man shall leave his father and mother and the two shall become one). Recognition is a relationship at a distance. Knowing is a relationship in spirit and truth which unites two willing and participating souls in perfect peace and trust. We must renew our love each day in the love of Christ (He loved us when we were still sinners). Jesus said that in the day of judgement, many would come to him saying ‘Lord. Lord’. But he would say in reply, “Depart from me. I never knew you.” Let it never be said of us, ‘He recognized him but He never knew him’.
Happy we know each other in peace and complete trust,Kochany
