I Get So Excited

My sweetie Eve,

The first time I saw you, I got so excited! Usually a man will not admit it but my exhilaration was befuddling, embarrassing, clumsy and  puzzling. When you suddenly can’t find even the easy conversational words because you are distracted by an unexplainable attraction that fixates all your attention on the woman who stands before you, you suddenly realize that you are conversationally tripping over yourself.  Your first thought is ‘what’s happening’. Then you realize that you are in over your head, and try to graciously exit, before you make a compete spectacle of yourself. It’s tough because surprisingly it matters that you make a good impression. That’s how it was with us. That’s how it still is when we’re together. I’ve grown accustomed to it when I’m in your presence. I still get excited and I’m so thankful for you. I wrote this song to describe what you do to me.
