Morning Cup of Coffee and a Home Made Glass of Tea
My darling Eve,
Oh the common things! How crucial they are. The sunrise peeks into our bedroom window to coax us out of bed. We begin our morning ritual of dressing and freshening up for the new day ahead of us. My first morning task is making coffee. As the water gets hot, I set out our ‘Yellowstone’ mugs adding sugar and milk for Ewa. I finish our coffee, take a couple of sips of my own and deliver the morning picker upper to Kochana as she finishes her makeup. Later in the day Kochana makes tea with lemon and honey or flavored syrup. One might think that this routine would become boring and mundane. I’m convinced that it is the person with whom the routine is shared that makes each repetition just as dear as the last. It is a manner in which each of us does something special for the other. It never gets old and we never tire of the effort and the reward. Often I get a peck on the cheek for my efforts and often I give her a kiss on the cheek for her thoughtfulness. After all these years, we have settled in to a life style that is pleasing and comfortable. We’ve grown accustomed to the habits, preferences and necessities of our individual selves and blended it into a tasteful, nourishing love potion that always satisfies, gratifies and completes our relationship. There are many other routines in our marriage, but none are better than our morning cup of coffee and a home-made glass of tea.
May we always have our coffee and tea together, Kochany
