My Best Friend

Everyone needs a friend to share his or her innermost secrets. Though it’s true that even friends disagree and misunderstand one another, the bond of trust they share always reunites and heals when a truce is called and reason returns. Before I fell in love with Kochana, my friends were men. Scripture says that a man strengthens another man as ‘steel sharpens steel.’ A good friend, ‘sticks closer than a brother,’ the book of Proverbs records. This man is blessed with a friend closer than any man in my life. God did good when He brought her into my life. She is such an inspiration to me that failing her is akin to failing the Gracious God who gave her to me. Did my soul not cry out to the Most High God for a friend and lover like her? She is a friend and lover like no other. My humble gratitude to Him is continually rising before His Throne in praise for the woman he gave to me. Our love is rooted in tender friendship. She is a friend when I’m angry. She knows my moods and deflects or confronts as required to restore reason, all the while maintaining my dignity. When she has a need, she is adept at presenting herself and her case in a manner that stimulates my need to provide for her needs. She is tender in my hour of grief or pain, always aware of when and when not to speak. Even when she is silent, her inner voice rumbles in the depths of my soul. I love this woman. I need this person. She is soft as a rose petal, sweet as honey, harmless as a newborn baby and strong like steel. Thank you, Kochana, for being my friend. Thank you Holy Father for this woman who is my most trusted companion. Only God could have designed a union that made my best friend my lover.

Loving you always just as you are, Kochany
