My Childhood Sweetheart Was You
Dear Kochana Eva,
Every young boy has an image of the woman he will one day love and marry. My imagination was about a beautiful woman even more beautiful than my mother who was just as understanding, cheerful and forgiving. She was the only woman who could be lovelier than my mother. She would also be the perfect wife and mother of our children just like mom. I would fight to defend her honor. I almost came to blows when my friend Raymond said that his mom was prettier than my mom. My mental picture of a wife was after the pattern of the woman who married dad and supported, encouraged, advised, and stood by him in good or bad situations. Every young man forms his expectations from the environment created and maintained by his mother and her relationship with his father. Mom was the epitome of all that a wife, mother and woman could be. When we met there was much in your demeanor that was like my mother. This in no way detracts from your individuality. In character, morals, family and dedication you are almost identical to her. You were an answer to prayer, because as a boy, it was almost unthinkable that God had another woman of equal or greater potential than mother. So my Kochana, when God brought you to me, you were already mine. You were mine the moment I dared to hope and dream of your appearance. All that was required was for the time to be fulfilled and we were given to each other. My childhood sweetheart was you. You are the only woman who fits the woman shaped void in my soul.
May God be with you my sweet, Kocham Cie, Kochany
