My Ewa Inspects Butchart Gardens
My Ewa, the last stop on our Alaska Cruise,
The allure of Butchart Gardens for a master gardener like my Ewa made this a certain off ship adventure. The specter of the floral imagery blended in the sunken garden arrangement was designed to enhance the beauty of each botanical species from all over the world. My kochana and myself were speechless for a brief moment. This time Ewa spent more time inspecting the flowers and taking in the setting than snapping photos. Unfortunately we arrived in the evening and our stay was shortened. Ewa could have stayed for hours if time permitted. Located near Victoria on Vancouver Island, Canada it was originally a limestone quarry. In 1909 when it was mined out, Jenny Butchart set about turning it into a sunken garden. The work was completed in 1921and the garden was wildly popular and a noted place to see. Crowds of tourists and visitors began to stream into the gardens and thousands continue to visit the unique beauty of this picturesque living bouquet of beauty. This was our last activity on our cruise and it was fitting that it be filled with flowers. My Ewa devotes untold hours to our garden at home so I am proud to stand by her side as she inspects the work of Jenny Butchart. Jenny would have liked my kochana for they would have had kindred spirits, both being gardeners. My grandmother, who was also an avid gardener, said that people who love flowers are near to the heart of God. God is good. He gave his love and my Ewa to me and together the three of us rejoice daily.
We came, we saw, we snapped photos, we gave thanks, Kochany
