New Jerusalem – The Holy City

Ewa, my companion looking forward to the Holy City,

We read about the fight for the Holy City of Jerusalem in Israel. What a paradox, that nations would fight over a holy city. They have never understood that a people can’t fight themselves into the real holy city of the Most High God. It is written in Isaiah 60:18 ‘Violence shall no more be heard in your land, wasting nor destruction within your borders, but you shall call your walls Salvation, and your gates Praise.’ Violent men will not gain access to the Holy City for they are evil perpetrators and impostors. Habakkuk 2:4 states, ‘Behold, his soul which is lifted up, is not upright in him, but the just shall live by his faith.’ Mathew Henry’s Concise Concordance clarifies our walk in faith, “The just shall live by faith in these precious promises, while the performance of them is deferred. Only those made just by faith shall live, shall be happy here and forever.” The real holy city comes down from heaven (Revelation 21:2 “And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of the heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.”). The holy city is approached in holiness, righteousness and truth. An upright spirit, prepared of God, can enter the gates of the eternal kingdom, prepared for the chosen of God from before the foundation of the world. The walls of new Jerusalem cannot be breached by violence, wickedness or evil. Worldly men are imprisoned by the walls of ignorance of the Word of God, the barrier of pride that blinds the wicked from knowing the Way of God, the mirror of the lust of the eye that causes the lost to see themselves as equal to God and the bottomless pit of the lust of the flesh that causes evil men to wander and stray from the principles of Life and dig their own grave. Weapons of war cannot penetrate Holy Principles. Corrupt, destructive minds cannot understand the pure, life-giving, creative mind of God. Man cannot add to the completed plan of God but he can be the part God created him to be. My Kochana, God gave each of us an important part of his plan. He formed us in his image and programmed us for the tasks and duties he assigned to us, as one and individually. Let us be thankful for his love and discipline in our lives. My heart is filled to overflowing in praise for the promise of the New Jerusalem, the Holy City.
