Poinsettias for Eve

Dear Eve,

Every December our home has several poinsettias for the holiday season. Eve likes to have at least 2 large plants in the house. She usually places one beside or in front of the living room hearth and the other one on the kitchen table. All our neighbors know that Eve has a green thumb. Our house has the most flowers in the neighborhood. She waters the bushes, trees and flowers every day or instructs me to do so when she can’t personally attend to it. She prefers to water her garden herself. I see a oneness with nature in her as she plucks off the dead or dying blooms and pulls weeds that would compete for nutrients and water. It’s reminescent of when God told Adam and Eve that their work was to ‘dress and keep’ (maintain) the Garden of Eden. My grandmother always said that ‘anyone who loved flowers was near to the heart of God.’ Grandma was almost always right. (I say ‘almost’ only because I don’t have the all knowing mind of God). Anyway, if she had met my Eve, she would have liked and loved her. Just as amazing is the longevity of the Poinsetias that are blessed to be purchased, ‘dressed and kept’ by the great gardener whom I love. Often they will last 3 to 4 months. The same love that inspires and transforms me in like manner lengthens the normal life of those Poinsetias. Every year God grows some Poinsettias for Eve, because He knows that she will sustain life and enable longevity with her tender loving care.

Grateful for your tender loving care, Kochany
