See How They Loved

The marriage of Antoni and Antonina was a daily walk in devotion, dedication, purity of heart and absolute trust in each other. They boldly dreamed of building a home when most of their countrymen were hunkered down in hopeless despair. They worked together to accumulate and hide wealth when others lost all desire to achieve in the face of Nazi and communist oppression. They dared to have children and believed that they could provide for them in any economic system, knowing that even as they survived the terror, torment and suppression of the war and the post war years they could also find a way to overcome every challenge or obstacle in their path. See how they loved! In 1946, Antoni purchased a property in a prime downtown Krakow location  for his shoe business. That summer he bought the land they had dreamed about as they sat on the banks of the Rudawa River and looked out over the fields. Poles needed shoes! His fame and reputation as a good shoemaker brought customers from nearby and distant cities and villages. Their hard work and determination began to blossom in 1947 when Antoni and Antonina broke ground for construction of their home. As he made the money, his wife would spend it to build “Marzenie”, her dream home. By September 1948, the walls and roof of the home were complete so that finishing carpenters could work inside through the winter. Antonina directed the construction while she was pregnant with Ewa. She lived her dream and carried Ewa in her womb as she built their home. In February of 1948, the second child was born, five years after her older sister Kristyna. Their dream home was being built, but more importantly, their dream family was growing. The greatest dream of Antoni and Antonina was to have a family to love, teach and nurture. See how happy Antonina is in this picture! Behind her is the house of her dreams. In her arms, front and center, is the answer to her prayers which made the dream home necessary. For Antoni and her, it was really all about their family. See how they loved! As Antonina cradled Ewa in her arms, I now hold you in my arms. You were my dream and the answer to my prayers. God has blessed us, let us give him praise for the wonderful things He has done through our parents. See how they loved! See how our precious Heavenly Father has loved us!
