The Greatest Warrior
Eva, my warrior wife,
He looked like any other baby when his mother first wrapped him in swaddling clothes. The wise men saw and followed his star to worship, pay homage and leave valuable gifts to an infant devoid of soldier qualities. The angel of the Lord appeared and announced his birth to lowly shepherds ‘keeping watch over their flocks by night’. Then suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of heavenly hosts praising god and saying, ‘glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, good will to men.’ Believing, the shepherds went to Bethlehem to see the baby Christ.
Why did God not make his announcement to the great, rich and influential? Why did the Lord God choose to appear to the lowest people of that culture, the shepherds? A premise of the law of the Most High God is that secrets are only revealed to those who are worthy. The lowly shepherds were more worthy than the powerful and affluent rulers of the synagogue and society of Israel at the time of Christ. Shepherds protect and watch over the flock. They will lay their life on the line to save a sheep from a wolf, bear or lion. In the true sense of the word, they are soldiers for the welfare of the flock.
Jesus Christ said, “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep (of his Fathers Flock). He also said, ‘I know my sheep and my sheep know me – just as the Father knows me and I know the Father – and I lay my life down for the sheep.’ The disciples were of the flock of God. Jesus knew them and called them and when He called, they knew his voice. From the day they came into the flock of his Heavenly father, Jesus warred against satan and the hordes of hell in prayer. He taught the disciples that the war was against ‘the rulers, the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm.’
When we study the works and teachings of our Savior one can see that the underlying motive of Jesus Christ, greatest warrior for man against the most low lucifer was recapturing and restoring humans to the reign of the world in union with God the Father. Since satan would not relinquish his usurped authority without a battle, Christ of necessity waged war on our behalf and defeated satan. It is written, He (Jesus) replied, ‘I saw satan fall like lightning from heaven’. Thus satan was defeated by Jesus Christ and cast out of heaven where he was the accuser of the brethern (servants of God).
Tonight as you pray be assured that your prayers are a missle which never misses the mark. It is written ‘ the fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.’ Lucifer and his hords of hell shudder at the sight of a saint of God on their knees. Be of good courage for our Lord battles for us and we have as our protector the greatest warrior.
The blessings and peace of the Father be with you forever, Your Kochany
