There Are No Great Men
Eva, my love with an ear for all my concerns,
A man of world renown recently died and the news media is saturated with accolades and praise for all the outstanding deeds of this great man. We can’t find a channel which is not trumpeting and repeating over and over again his marvelous contributions to his people and the world. (Notice that even in the coverage of the Pope and other outstanding Godly men, comparatively speaking, very little attention is paid by a carnal population intent on fulfilling all their selfish goals and aspirations.) The world calls the deceased great for simply doing the job the Most High God created him to do. A careful study of news content reveals that the only news in the reports is his death. All the other documentaries, editorial opinions and historical life achievements of the deceased are overblown while the failures, questionable ideology, hidden agendas and compromise with evil and wicked agents of men are nowhere to be found in the final official statement of this so called great man or woman. This is not uncommon. A personal friend is a funeral undertaker. He says that at wakes and funerals only good, wonderful men are buried. All the evil they did in their lives is not mentioned by even those who hated the deceased and attended the funeral out of respect for his family. When you consider the human frailty of man without God, and the untainted factual records of the Most High God which testify against them, there are no great men. However there is a great God man, even the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a common, ordinary man, like each of us, who lived a life without sin by always aligning his manly will with the holy, righteous, life giving will of God his Holy Father. And yet, though Jesus was a God man, he was not a great man for to be a great man he would have had to stand without and apart from God. Philippians 2:6-11 reveals this, “6Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
This is the real measure of a true man. It is the manifestation of man as God created him, absent the concealed (covered, hidden) wicked designs and devices of any and all men working in and of themselves. They claim undeserved, usurped glory for themselves and willfully ignore and refuse to give glory to the God who created them for the need they fulfilled and made it possible by opening all the right doors at precisely the right time. The great generals Napolean, Patton or Caesar would have been unknown by being born in a different time, country or situation. God put them in a time and gave them the attributes which enabled their God given abilities to grow and perform those deeds they achieved. The godless world has never understood this simple concept. It is the madness of sin, that even the rudimentary principles of a Holy God are not understood. This is what broke the heart of our Lord Jesus. As He taught in Jerusalem, scripture says in Mathew 23, “The greatest among you will be your servant. For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted……………. O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, just as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not have it! Behold, your house is left to you desolate; and I say to you, you will not see Me until the time comes when you say, ‘BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD!” He truly was a great man, a god man and thus a good man, born of God, living for God, and one with God. When addressed as ‘good teacher’ Jesus responded, “Why do you call me good? There is none good but one, that is, God.” We can acknowledge the good that men do but as children of the Most High God, and Sons (male and female created He {God} them) of God in Christ Jesus, we must always remember that all glory and praise begins and ends in God Most High. Once when your husband was driving to work, I told God I wanted to do something great for him. Instantly the voice of the Holy Spirit said to me, “No my child. You can’t do something great for me but I can do something great with you.” Let us remember that God has called us to do great things in His power, for His Glory and for our (God and us) benefit. There are no great men but we, as the chosen of God, are called to greatness in His power, principles and grace.
We acknowledge His greatness when we live His Words, Kochany
